Sometimes the deity shows up and performs miracles! Especially if you wear red glitter to honor her. Stills from my recent performance Milagros at copro. My phlebotomy prowess enabled me to make my own ink for monotype prints from the heart. 

And look who appeared, my beloved Virgen de Guadalupe. 

This work delves deep into my familial history with the pilgrimage at La Virgen’s basilica, where my Abuela asked for miracles as a younger woman. The iconography clipped to my harness was peeled off the vela I was using to hold vigil for her. At the time of this performance, she was in hospice, and passed 2 days later at the age of 100. 

I hope the energy generated from this work creates a miracle not just for my family, but for all the marginalized families currently being terrorized from the US to Gaza. Our bloodlines are powerful and sacred; we deserve to live and thrive without fear. xo
